On March 8, 2026, Clara Tarchuk (Shakotko) will reach an extraordinary milestone: her 100th birthday.
It is a testament to faith, family, and a lifelong legacy of sharing the Gospel. As we honour Clara, we also honour the history of Ranger Lake Bible Camp—a ministry woven into the very fabric of her life.
Clara’s story is rooted in the vision of her mother, Matilda Shakotko. After raising 17 children, Matilda carried a dream to see a Bible camp established for the families of rural Saskatchewan. She believed children needed a place set apart to encounter Christ and grow in faith. Through prayer and sacrifice, that vision became a reality when Clara’s brother, Joe Shakotko, founded the camp in 1952.
As the youngest of those 17 children, Clara grew up surrounded by this mission. For decades, she has been a faithful prayer warrior, servant, and supporter of Ranger Lake. She has seen firsthand how camp changes lives, and she continues to trust God to provide for its future.
In honor of her 100th year, Clara has made a humble request. In lieu of gifts, she invites friends and family to donate to the Clara Tarchuk Legacy Fund.
Our goal is to raise $100,000—a bold tribute representing 100 years of God’s faithfulness. These funds will ensure the vision Matilda started and Clara upheld continues by:
