Camper Story

Shelley has dealt with the foster system and comes from a difficult home life. When she arrived she was callused and closed off, afraid to let anyone in. It didn’t take long before she began to open up. She shared a lot about her home life, the trials she had endured, and she asked a lot of questions. Shelley expressed that she didn’t know if she believed in God, or that He created the world. Her cabin leaders discussed talked about these things with her. She liked the answers and said she had a lot to think about. After that conversation, Shelley was willing to become a lot more vulnerable. She was reminded by her cabin leaders of her worth and value, and how loved she was by God Himself.
