The tearful young camper broke her leader’s heart, but her question also opened the door to something beautiful.
“I was able to assure her that yes, she is absolutely worth praying for, and then spend time praying with her,” the leader shares.
“It was a powerful reminder of how much these campers long to know their value and to feel God’s love in a personal way.”
Many children and youth who attend One Hope Canada camps come from backgrounds where they are made to feel worthless. Family dysfunction, abuse, neglect: the needs are complex and painful.
But for one or two weeks over the course of the summer, these kids find a place where hope lives. They are meeting the One who says they’re worthy. They discover Jesus.
At the center of this ongoing transformation are young leaders pointing the way.
“I loved seeing my campers’ longing for something greater, and I took those opportunities to talk about Jesus and have deep, meaningful conversations with them,” says Camila, a cabin leader from Camp Livingstone in Quebec.
“It was an incredible moment when one of the girls gave her life to Christ. It was one of the first times I helped someone make that decision, and it was so beautiful. Being able to share the gift of salvation with her was unforgettable!”

We take great care to steward your gifts wisely. One Hope Canada is accredited with the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities; consistently meeting their high standards for financial transparency, accountability, and integrity.
Spending of funds is confined to One Hope Canada’s approved programs and projects. Each contribution directed toward an approved program or project will be used as restricted with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason as determined by the National Board, the remaining unrestricted contributions will be used where most needed.
